Another day, another animal ...

Wednesday, May 23, 2012
There was a watering hole right outside our window. We got some great close-ups with the animals.

Young Kudu Bull. See those big ears? That's why Kudu are so elusive.

Pumba. Warthogs aren't really lookers, that's for sure.

KUDU! These animals look so regal. Beautiful.

Warthog family, enjoying the salt lick.

On Day 2 we woke up early to hunt a watering hole, looking for a Kudu.

This picture was taken from inside the blind, with a zoom lens. There were lots of monkeys, so I was scared of making noise taking pictures- monkeys have great hearing and sound the alarm, spooking the other animals.

So plans of hunting a Kudu changed when we saw a different guy come out of the brush. Here's the whispered conversation:

Harry: Big Waterbuck. A Shooter.
Ross: Shoot it?
Harry: Yes. Trophy buck.
Ross: Babe, shoot it even though it's not on our list?
Liz: Shoot straight.

BOOM!

Harry, the PH (Personal Hunter), always watched closely after the shot to see where the animal ran.

BIG waterbuck!

Nice shot Ross!

Down in 1 shot :)

Look how long those horns are!

Time to move him: PH Harry, Ross, Tracker Old John

Setting up for a Hollywood Moment.

On our drive out, I snapped a picture of the blind we sat in. Nice camo huh?

Time to load up.

2 down, 3 to go!
