Mom just returned from her trip to Haiti. Crazy right? I had trouble grasping the idea all the way up until Mom boarded the plane... mainly because of Mom's sometimes picky palate. She went to Haiti with a small group, the leader of which has been very involved with Haiti for many, many years (pre-earthquake disaster). Part of their mission while they were there, was to teach local women a skill, for example making handmade children's clothing. The clothes are brought to the US and sold in upscale boutiques, and the money is returned to the women in Haiti. Genius!
Here's what Mom said in her note...
Haiti and Alaska have something in common: mountains. The mountains are ever-present. For different reasons, getting around in both geographies is challenging. In Haiti, lack of money and lack of roads creates difficulty for people. Love, Ma
From the pictures, Haiti geography looks amazing!
