Sushi

Ross and I both love to eat sushi, but we haven't found a great sushi place in Anchorage. And no matter where you go, sushi always seems overpriced.

"Woa, $15 for that??!"

Let's also keep in mind, that if your name is Ross Huebel you need a LOT of sushi to fill you up.

We've often talked about making our own sushi, but it just seemed like way too much work. But then our friend Kim had birthday party at her house where she served "assemble it yourself" sushi. It was positively delicious too. So basically we HAD to try it out... So Mom brother got us a sushi kit and some books for christmas. We finally got around to it last week and it didn't disappoint. Though I will say we need some help on cooking the rice properly and get some pointers on actually cutting the rolls- mine were not pretty. Good thing Kim offered to help :)

The rice is the most time consuming element. We tried to take some shortcuts and the rice was too mealy so I guess it needs the full time.

We stuffed the rolls with fresh tuna from Hawaii, avocado, cucumber, and bell pepper

I went straight for the more difficult 'rice on the outside' and my rolls weren't very pretty.

Ross's rolls turned out much prettier... Show off!
