Florida: Aldrich Family Vacation- Part 2

Wednesday, December 28, 2011
One of our family activities in Orlando was the obligatory theme park. We chose to go to Disney's Epcot for a day. The last time I went to Disney World I was 12 years old. It's amazing how different things look a lotta years later. One of my favorite attractions was the night time Epcot light show/fireworks, just like I had remembered. However, Disney "Italy" didn't have quite the same feel after having visited Italy. Oh well, we got to witness a proposal while we were having a glass of wine in "Italy". Good fun.

In "China" there was an awesome acrobatic show. Look at all the glasses she's balancing!

Epcot Tequila shot for the Mom.

The Huebel's sent an AMAZING pecan pie to us in Florida. It's honestly the best pecan pie filling any of us had ever had. You can get one too... HERE.

We went to Universal Studio's City Center to have drinks at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, followed by dinner at Emeril Lagasse's Emeril restaurant.

We all ordered a different flavor margarita.

The boys. Of course Dad has a fruity variety.

Momma.

Fried Green Tomatoes topped with shrimp. (so good)

Calamari with a twist.

Fresh Burrata cheese.

Jeff's Andouille Crusted Redfish.

Ross's Lamb shank.

Dad's pan seared sea scallops.

Mom's Kurobuta Pork Chop.

My Seafood Ciopinno, chock full of shrimp and scallops!

We also went to Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park, but I didn't take any pictures. We liked Universal more than Epcot, mostly because overall the rides were more thrilling. Our favorite rides were the Hulk roller coaster (scary!), the new Harry Potter ride (really well done), and spider man (3D).

Great trip to Florida!

FLORIDA: Aldrich Family Vacation

Monday, December 26, 2011
Ross and I made the trek to Florida to meet my family and celebrate brother Jeffrey's GRADUATION from Penn State. Now we have 2 chemical engineers in the family... I'm such a proud big sister :) Jeff's decided to go to med school and I'm super excited about having a doctor in the family. I will be calling him with puppy health questions and reassurance that Web MD doesn't know what it's talking about. It's gonna be great. Now, which school will he pick-- that is the question...

We ventured to the Orlando WonderWorks Museum one afternoon. Pretty wacky indeed.

 WonderWorks Museum. Pretty neat facade.

Hurricane chamber where you can experience hurricane force winds.

Brother.

The original 4.

Special 5th person. Short legs in the wacky mirror.

Ross LOVES to fly airplanes.

After spending a couple hours at the museum, we got all dolled up and headed to Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort where we had dinner reservations at a fancy South African restaurant, Jiko, to celebrate a graduation. Turns out the hotel sits on a "safari" complete with lots of animals. Good prep for the real deal!

I couldn't decide which effect I liked better, so here are both:

Brother is all grown up!

Multiple dipping sauces with flatbread? Yes, please! My favorite was the red pepper pesto.

Close your eyes on 3!

Coffee Blackened Corvina, a flakey white fish.

My shrimp curry was delicious!

Dad's Grouper with a sweet potato puree.

Hmm, how did this picture sneak in there...

Chase is going to be 14 years old in March!

Cook with Steph and Liz: Chicken Marsala

A quick stop through Houston means... Cook with Steph and Liz!!!

We made Chicken Marsala, served up over pasta with roasted broccoli. Who doesn't wanna eat prosciutto and mushrooms in a Marsala wine sauce?

Robby was the master of chicken frying.

Getting ready for our winery tour in South Africa in a couple months...

Look at that prosciutto... lots and lots of it!

We couldn't possibly go without a dessert. Caramel apples!!

Happy boy.

Messy eater.

Good Eat'n with Good Friends!!!
