Barcelona is a beautiful city, with mountains and the ocean flanking the sides. This also makes real estate a bit of a challenge (just like Anchorage!). We visited a place called Parc Guell, which is basically one of the first master planned communities, on a hill overlooking the city of Barcelona. The problem with this 'hood was that it was way ahead of it's time. For example, what early 1900's lady is going to want to walk hours just to go hear a concert in the big city and then have to hike back up a steep hill to get home. Gaudi had some really neat design elements completed before he scrapped this place to dedicate himself to the Sagrada Familia church 100% of the time. It was a nice place for Ross and I to stroll among pretty gardens and get a landscape view of Barcelona.
Once of the Barcelona views from the hill, you can see the Sagrada Famila construction cranes in the middle, left. There's rules about how high all the surrounding buildings can be.
