1. There was a nice hotel-like lodge with good food and lots of adult beverages
2. Grosse Savanne is outside of Lake Charles, which means it is a doable 3 hour drive from our house
3. When you dropped the fishing line in the water you had a Redfish on the line within 3 minutes, if you didn't a crab probably ate the shrimp bait off the hook. We caught our limit (5 per person) after about a half an hour of fishing.
Ok now onto a couple things I learned...
1. Fish have super sharp boney cartilage in their gills, so it is of upmost importance to avoid these by holding fish in a strategic location when posing for the obligatory fish picture, otherwise your fingers get torn up
2. How ta tawk rite. I haven't been to Louisiana in a long time and I was quickly reminded of the Cajun dialect. There were times I had trouble understanding what the fishing guide was telling me to do.
3. Redfish fight hard. I have bruises on my belly from the fishing pole digging into my skin while I was trying to reel in "dem fish"
Pretty sunrise on the LA marshes
We ate fresh fish when we got home and it doesn't get much better than that.
