Roma had TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) on her right knee on Wednesday. It's a fairly involved surgery, in which the doctor removes the torn ligament, cuts the bone to create a new angle of the knee, then secures with a stainless steel plate and screws.
Here's Roma's Post-Op pics:
She's not really able to put much pressure on the back, right leg yet. But, as the swelling goes down I think she's start to use it more.
The first 2-4 days the swelling is the worst; it moves from the knee down to the ankle. There is also significant bruising from the operation.
Roma HATES the cone of shame, so we bought her an inflatable donut instead. Hopefully, this keeps her from licking/messing with her stitches.
Rear View: She doesn't like sleeping in this thing.
Overall, Roma has done superb. She doesn't like being in her crate when people come over or at night time, but it's important especially for the first 2 weeks to keep her confined with limited movement.
