Natalie & I are going to San Francisco and Sonoma/Napa Valley this weekend!! I have never been to Cali, so I'm really looking forward to our girl getaway. Natalie graduated from law school in May and has been studying for the BAR exam all summer. The test also happens to be tomorrow, mere hours before our Fri morning flight. De-stress on the west coast!! I can think of quite a few things Ross would rather do than go wine tasting... One of them is a trip to the lakehouse with a couple of his buddies (& Roma), which is precisely what he has planned :)

Ranch Story Update
Monday, July 27, 2009
Update to previous blog entry:
Ross & Adam's ranch adventure included 24 hours of total drive time, an ALMOST sprained ankle, keys locked in a car, and a ticket for expired registration sticker on the trailer (only 8 years out of date)...
I STILL think it's probably best that I was not present. :)

Girl Weekend

Ross went to the Ranch this weekend, while Roma & I stayed in Houston. My friend, Britany, had a #25 birthday get together on Friday night. We met at a trendy sushi place called RA, but after waiting over an hour and half to be seated, we went to an Italian place down the street and had a nice meal. On Saturday I went to hang out with my college friend, Juli. She made me a great lunch, which included hummus stuffed hard-boiled eggs. I will definitely make these in the future... Delish! We sat out by the pool and chatted for 4 hours. Pretty much the perfect way to spend the afternoon.

Britany's 25th!
Only 1 candle on the cheesecake...
I got an update from the "Ranchers" (Ross & Adam) today and it sounded like they got the 5th wheel trailer out to the ranch successfully, but not without quite a bit of elbow grease. Their adventure included a 10 hour drive, an ALMOST sprained ankle, and keys locked in a car. I think it's probably best that I was not present. :)
I took Roma outside for some fetch today. She has finally stopped panting, but has been sleeping for hours. She tends to sprawl out on the tile to cool off...
Roma's favorite post-fetch spot.
Super Hot in Texas

The weather outside is so hot this week. I was in Durango, Colorado last week (for work) and I am missing the cooler temperatures. Ross has been working hard to complete the arbor in our back yard. It looks great and it is so close to being done. There are about 80 "runners", the pieces across the top, which will provide the shade. I will post a picture when it's complete!

Relaxing Weekend
Sunday, July 19, 2009
We had a nice weekend relaxing at the house. Gumbo, Mom and Dad Huebel's pup, is staying with us for the week, so our house is slightly more exciting than usual. Jeffrey came on Thursday night and we had homemade venison chili, courtesy of Ross. We saw the new movie "Public Enemies" which we thought was pretty good. A little bit of a cliche Hollywood gangsta movie, but overall we liked it. Last night Ross's buddy Brandon came over for "Make your own pizza" night. Now it's time for a little exercise...
