Summer is here!
Stormy Skies
It's so cool watching storms blow across the big skies of west Texas, especially when they don't effect your ability to have power! According to pilot aka weather tracker Ross the storms were about 40 miles away; Ava thinks the thunder was closer than that. We saw some pretty epic lightning... from a distance.
Wildflowers
Wildflower pictures with ... the plane. haha :) When we flew to Rock Springs the airport was a sea of yellow flowers. It was greener than I've ever seen. Naturally, we had to pose for some pictures.

Hot Springs Hotel
Check out these views from the balcony at our hotel. It was gorgeous and we lucked out with some great weather. When can we go back? :)

Hot Springs Arkansas
Ross and I went to Hot Springs Arkansas last weekend. We stayed on Lake Hamilton and it was absolutely beautiful. We were about 15 min away from downtown Hot Springs and the National Park. I really didn't understand the concept of "Bath Houses" until visiting this spot. Years ago people thought that there was healing power in the hot bathes and would go for months on end to dip into the hot water and then roam around the upper Promenade. Think of an early spa. We went to a {really good} brewery inside one of these historic old bath houses. There was a plethora of hiking trails (long/short, steep/flat, up/down) and I do love a good hike.
Before Pelotons, there was the Promenade for post-bath walks.
Conroe Sites
We went up to Conroe for some fresh air and lake views. Girls are quite fond of having access to different swimming pools and enjoy chasing the ducks. We gifted Dad a boat rental for his bday and got to "test" it out with him. Keeping the "part time retirement" options open :). What was funnier was watching Ross and Claire try to tube together on a little bitty tube in some chilly water.
Post Freeze
Well some things have grown back after the big freeze a few weeks ago... and other things haven't. We're fairly certain we've lost both bottle brush trees on either end of our yard :( We also lost the row of bushes closest to the windows that we have patiently watched grow the last 3 years. Yard beautification is such an ongoing maintenance effort isn't it? The crazy Texas weather makes sure of that.

Chalk Paint
We had our first experience with Chalk Paint during a recent "Girls Weekend". Claire and Paige were huge fans. Mommy not so much. But it was a great outside activity on a beautiful day!
Sideline Sister
Paige likes to play princesses while Claire is playing softball. P has been such a good sport this season and keeps waiting for the team to be short a player so she can fill in. Next year Paige! :)
Always cheering on #9!
Farming
Claire got a hydroponic garden for her birthday and it's been so neat to watch all the herbs grow. It turned out to be one of those gifts that the kids like, but so do mom and dad. aaaand they wouldn't touch dill before and now they'll eat it plain, so we'll call that a win. I'd say our first attempt turned out pretty well, considering little sister had a propensity for hitting the buttons on the hydroponic garden at her leisure, not according to the growing cycle. haha.
